CAROLYN’S STORY

EARLY LIFE

I was born and raised in a northern suburb of Chicago, Glenview, IL. My interests as a child consisted of dancing, playing volleyball, and being a part of the Glenview Travel Soccer team for several years. I always had a love for young children and providing for them. At the age of 12, I began babysitting. Babysitting was my primary occupation for roughly 10 years.


SCHOOL BACKGROUND

I attended Glenbrook South High School. Following my high school graduation, I decided on a Big Ten school that was within driving distance from home, Michigan State University. I had a tremendous time at MSU where I studied Communications and Public Relations. As my college graduation date approached in early 2021, I began my job search. Due to COVID-19, all my career fairs were online. After several ZOOM interviews, I was offered three full-time jobs. I decided to go with the logistics industry as I was confident my communication and problem-solving skills would take me far.


LOGISTICS EXPERIENCE

I began working at Arrive Logistics as an Account Executive in May 2021. During my time at Arrive, I was able to develop superb operation skills by managing one of the company’s largest accounts alongside my co-workers. Within my first few months at Arrive, I had created strong connections with individuals in hierarchical positions to potentially join the Marketing Department. During this pursuit to focus on Marketing and PR, Brian Adelman, reached out to me about a job opportunity at Metro.


MARKETING AT METRO

Brian Adelman and Rocco Stefanini did a fantastic job at bringing me into the Metro family! I am now able to incorporate my previous logistics experience into the business while also building and developing the marketing team. Working at a startup has been exciting as I am the creator of our social media posts and company designs. Metro Monday blog posts have been fantastic projects for me as I am able to incorporate the PR skills I gained while attending MSU. The future of Metro is bright as we continue to bring on new marketing projects, increase our engagement on social media, and create Metro advertisements!
