ROCCO’S STORY

By Carolyn Berg | April 18, 2022

EARLY LIFE

Rocco Stefanini was born and raised in LaGrange, IL. Rocco’s family grew up in the restaurant industry. Rocco’s father suggested going down his own unique path. In the second grade, Rocco met Brian Adelman and the two have been friends ever since.

The Adelman house was like a second home to Rocco. He was around trucks in his early days always stopping at Roadco's terminal before Chicago White Sox games. This early exposure to Roadco built Rocco’s interest in trucking and transportation. However, he had no idea it would become such a big part of his life.

SCHOOL BACKGROUND

Rocco graduated from Fenwick High School in Oak Park, IL. Following high school, he attended Drake University in Des Moines, IA where he played football and attained a degree in Finance and insurance. Through his college football experience, he made lifelong friends including a close buddy of his who helped him get his first internship and full-time job.

POST GRADUATION + EXPERIENCE

Following his graduation from Drake University, Rocco went to work for Cottingham & Butler, a very large insurance firm Located in Dubuque, IA. Their claim to fame was their heavy presence in commercial trucking. Rocco spent 4 years of his life selling insurance to small fleet trucking companies along with substantially growing his network. Rocco created plenty of long-lasting relationships with coworkers and trucking company owners. So much so that old clients and coworkers' clients are hauling loads for Metro, today.

Rocco credits C&B for putting all sales executives through extensive training required to understand what a trucking company does and why the right insurance product is such an integral piece to the puzzle.

“The insurance side of any industry is so important, but trucking is another animal” says Stefanini.

Rocco insured certain lines of coverage for Roadco and got a much better grasp on the operations and its customer base.

TRANSITION INTO METRO

After Brian had closed Roadco, he reached out to Rocco. The two co-founders had several meetings about how to make this dream become a reality. After many months and business plans later, Metro Logistics Inc. was incorporated and granted operating authority.

Rocco currently wears a lot of hats at Metro. Specializing in billing, accounting, compliance, insurance and HR. He is continuously looking to delegate more as we continue to grow. 2022 is starting off hot and Metro’s looking to continue to scale properly.

“I cannot wait to see what the future holds for the team at Metro!” says Rocco Stefanini, Vice President of Metro Logistics.
